Gaviscon Double Action Tablets bring long lasting relief from the pain and discomfort of heartburn and acid indigestion. They get to work in two different ways:
- Neutralising excess stomach acid to relieve pain and discomfort (white layer)
- Forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents to soothe the burning pain in your chest (pink layer)
The tablets do not contain sugar or gluten. You can take this product if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

I bought a bunch from the sale. I'll be good for more than a year. They all came in very good condition, as opposed to my other experiences from multiple amazon vendors. It's basically made my LPR a non-issue. I would say to always make sure you chew it until it becomes liquid, then swallow it all at the same time. It's definitely not the most pleasant sounding way to consume the medicine, but it has worked very well for me so far. It's too bad the old tablets are not in production anymore (I'm assuming). We're definitely paying a higher cost for less sodium alginate per tablet (500mg vs 250mg). With that said, this still is the cheaper way to get the sodium alginate. I really hope the USA gaviscon learns from the UK gaviscon team. For anyone looking to buy UK gaviscon products and needs shipping to the USA, definitely get it from here.

I had a severe GERD flare-up 6 weeks ago. I've had GERD for 30 years and successfully managed it with OTC dose of pepsid at night with few flare-ups until now. I was put on a Prilosec 3 weeks before the early morning acute acid reflux flareup started so it did was a failure in preventing the flareup.. I tried Mylanta Multi Symptom nigthly for two weeksbut continued having nightly reflux. I read that Double Action Gaviscon has alginate which has evidence based support for efficacy so I bought it from British Pharmacare since its not available in the U.S. Once it finally arrived after two weeks, I started taking it immediately during the day, as needed, and at bedtime nightly for the last 2 weeks, Unfortunately, the effect lasts approx 4 hours and I continue to have acid reflux 3-6 hours after falling asleep even with being on a GERD friendly diet and sleeping in a recliner at a 45 deg angle every night. Very disappointing and frustrating.
My order got here as expected and I was kept up on the timeline. Gaviscon is our favorite for treating occasional indigestion.

It’s good to be able to get the British formulation as the US formulation has aluminium in it which is something you ought not put in your body. The chew tabs are an effective and fairly economical product line. I discovered the British formulation about 6 years ago and have turned to it when needed ever since. It’s better than rolaids or tums.

These chewable tablets seem to work about as well as Pepcid Complete for my heartburn and acid indigestion - but only if I take 2 or 3 of them, as opposed to just one Pepcid tablet.
