Gaviscon Advance Liquidis a remedy for indigestion, acid reflux and heartburn, helping to keep excess stomach acid under control and keeping irritation at bay. Gaviscon Advance Liquid is available in a delicious Aniseed flavour and is perfect for those who struggle with indigestion or heartburn after eating spicy or fatty foods, or after drinking coffee or alcohol. Gaviscon Advance Liquid contains two active ingredients which work together to ease acid reflux and prevent heartburn. These ingredients are sodium alginate and potassium hydrogen carbonate. This means that they form a thick layer over the contents of your stomach, keeping excess stomach acid from moving up into your food pipe and causing irritation.
The primary active ingredients are Sodium Alginate (1000 mg per 10 ml) and Potassium Hydrogen Carbonate (200 mg per 10 ml). Together, they form a protective, floating gel barrier over the stomach contents to block acid.
i got diagnosed with pathologic acid reflux and a patulous Lower Esophageal sphincter- meaning that my esophagus doesn't close as a normal one should. - which is driving my severe reflux and making reflux for 2-4 hours after every meal and i could only get about 3 hours of sleep a night. I paid $32 for the medication, plus an $11 delivery charge, for a total of $43. This cost does not seem justified, especially considering that each bottle does not even contain a 30-day supply.
If each dose is 10 mL and the bottle contains 250 mL, that comes out to only 25 doses per bottle. Paying $43 for just 25 doses is unreasonable and difficult to justify.
This antacid, which is apparently not available in the United States does a nice job of allowing me to sleep better and not wake up, feeling slightly queasy from my nighttime snack or spicy supper.
I purchased this product to treat my GERD after a recent severe flare up and it’s been very effective - much more so than the Dual Action chewable tablets that I tried first. Luckily, I like black licorice so I can easily tolerate the anise flavoring.
I received it in 2 weeks and it was well packaged and in perfect condition. It seems to work well so far, I have only used it for 8 days. For me the Aniseed taste is very strong and undesirable but if it continues to help I will deal with the taste.

The Gaviscon Aniseed 250 is excellent--perfect and a great help. I take two tsp. each night before retiring. Thank you. The Gaviscon Advance, which I was most excited about trying, clogged my throat and caused an immediate choking hazard. (I have laryngopharyngeal reflux.) I won't touch the Advance again and wish I had ordered twice the amount of the Double Action Aniseed 250. But the shipping took forever to arrive.
Delivery was slow but fine. It's just the product I don't like. The product is supposed to help with GERD for those with AAG but the actual anise flavor actually gives me heart burn!
